The Galilean Log November 2010
Thoughts from the President’s Desk November.
The month in which we celebrate Thanksgiving.
We
look forward to being with family and friends. We feast this year on November
25th. On that date we give thanks for all the many blessings we have been given.
I hope that we don’t do this only once a year but always remember the
blessings we have been given every day.
This time of the year I find it meaningful to think back at not only the
good times but reflect on those times that were not so good and give thanks for
the gift of perseverance that God has given me. Times that I know I wouldn't
have made it were it not for my faith. I give thanks to God.
This time of year I enjoy a drive in the country to see all the work
being done by the farmers. I can’t tell you how beautiful it is to me to see
the fields of corn and beans in the summer at the height of growth, and then to
see this same fields barren of any growth, knowing that many people will be fed
as the result of that farmer’s labor. I give thanks to God.
This time of year I think about an upcoming birthday. My 74th in fact.
(No cards please!). I remember many things from the past. Some good. Some bad.
But nevertheless for all those years, I give thanks to God.
This time of year I think about good things to come. new friends. New
memories. New things happening at my church home. And with my church family. I
give thanks to God.
This time of year I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and to ask you
to “think good things” and to remember “In Christ’s Love, Everyone is
Someone.”
Yours in Christ, Bob Johnson

From the
Stewardship Commission
Stewardship Letters have been mailed to
all Galileans. If you have not
received your letter please contact the office and one will be sent to you. This
letter includes a commitment card which we urge you to prayerfully consider,
fill out and return on Commitment Sunday, November 14, or before if it is more
convenient. We have also included Time & Talent pamphlets in this mailing.
It is important for each member of the family to complete this form. There are
additional pamphlets in your mail box and on the table in the back of the
sanctuary. It is especially important in this time of change that we stay
committed to worship each week and to freely share our gift of talent and
resources. “A Christian is one who doesn’t have
to consult his check book to see how wealthy he really is.” Thank You,
The Stewardship
